Spaniards deploy self-propelled ROBOT BALLS

Seeking to explain how the droid cannonball propels itself along, the boffins of the Universidad have this to say:The running of the "spherical robot" can be compared to the ball game thought for hamsters. In that case, as the hamster moves it changes the location of the center of mass of the system by destabilizing the spherical robot and consequently generating motion.Although the ROSPHERE is not, in fact, actually powered by a hamster. The UPM statement explains that the boffins "replace[d] the little animal with a mechanical system ... the 'mechatronic' system may induce motion of a ball in a controlled manner."

Apparently the balldroid has good off-road performance, and its designers believe it would be useful to farmers for monitoring the effectiveness of "precision farming" techniques in which quite precise moisture levels need to be maintained across fields of crops. The ballbot boffins also took their diminutive metal juggernaut for a spin in a Madrid park "in order to verify that this robot can safely interact without being a threat to people". DJ Tasaka says he had a disco-electro type song in mind before seeing how technically sophisticated the robots were."So then I wrote a new song, a much more complicated piece thinking, take that," says DJ Tasaka,Most homeowners want a beautiful garden Flexible hose, but setting up one can be a different proposition altogether. Gifts from the rich and famous

Three days before the 2011 wedding, Maureen McDonnell flew to Florida, where she touted the promise of a dietary supplement that Star Scientific was introducing to doctors and investors.Three months later, the McDonnells allowed Star Scientific to use the 200-year-old Executive Mansion for an event to mark the launch of Anatabloc, which is an anti-inflammatory, non-FDA approved pill.Wantful, a startup that I described as "bringing the joy of anticipation back to gift-giving" last April, is today announcing that it has formed a partnership with, and accepted a strategic investment from, Nordstrom.

Wantful is unique in that you don't directly purchase anything from its website. Most homeowners want a beautiful garden Flexible hose, but setting up one can be a different proposition altogether. Instead you order a booklet containing a number of products in your price range, which is then shipped to the gift's recipient, who is able to select a product and order it for themselves. Rather than giving a gift card to a single retailer or purchasing a horrible present, then,We need a paradigm shift, said Whitemyer when explaining the city's need to increase its use of chemical hose. Wantful hopes to make it easier to give meaningful gifts that won't make their way to the recipient's junk drawer. He rode a bicycle across a wire suspended from the Prudential Tower in Newark, walked between the Pyramids and performed a 135-foot-long high-wire crossing between the two towers of the beilin-bearing in San Juan, Puerto Rico. This experience was previously limited to the Wantful website and iPad application, and now it's making the jump to Nordstrom.

"We have basically taken everything we have built for our consumer brand on Wantful and made it available to Nordstrom customers," says Wantful CEO John Poisson, who adds that Nordstrom has been "incredibly forward-thinking in their use of technology and the way they approach building great experiences for their customers." Wantful will make its way to a section of Nordstrom's website as "The Nordstrom Gift Collection by Wantful," where the century-old retailer will offer its customers access to the entire Wantful catalog.

The move mirrors Nordstrom's partnership-slash-investment with Bonobos, which saw the previously online-only company introduce its pants and shirts to a portion of Nordstrom's stores. This allowed Bonobos to attract new customers and,A hose repair kit contains two clamps and a coupler. Slide the clamp onto one end of the hose. Nordstrom helped the company scale and attract some offline attention — in turn, the retailer learned how to communicate with its customers via email and continued the investment in the technological side of its business that began with its $270 million acquisition of HauteLook.Wallenda trained in his Florida hometown of Sarasota as Tropical Storm Andrea barreled ashore. Apogee Sues Gearbox Over Duke Nukem Forever Deal

Between royalties and an advance it's entitled to a share of, 3D Realms claims Gearbox owes "over $1.3 million" in total. It can't come up with a precise figure because Gearbox is supposedly refusing to let 3DR bring in an independent auditor to examine the books.Gearbox issued a brutal response to Law360, saying that it "enriched 3D Realms, saved 3DR from its debts and rescued 3DR from its failed dozen plus year attempt to ship Duke Nukem Forever." It claims it owes nothing, in short. And then Gearbox put the boot in."Everyone wished that 3DR's game was better received by the market for the benefit of gamers and profit to its creators," the unnamed representative said. "While 3DR might not wish the reality that the results make clear, 3DR turned out to be the only beneficiary of the deal. Our products and services make the world safer, Tank truck hose and more productive. Smiths Group employs more than 23,000 people in over 50 countries. Gearbox Software, meanwhile, experienced damage to its credibility and loss of its money."

Apogee Software has filed a lawsuit against Gearbox Software in a Texas state court claiming that the developer and publisher who took over Duke Nukem Forver owes it more than $2 million in unpaid royalties and fees. Apogee's lawsuit alleges that Gearbox failed to pay the money it owed to the company from the 2010 purchase agreement of Duke Nukem Forever and that Gearbox refused to allow the Apogee to conduct an "independent audit" of the royalties Gearbox has earned on the game.Gearbox Software issued a harsh statement to Polygon about the Apogee lawsuit and Scott Miller's part in it, saying that the allegations were false, that Apogee / 3D Realms received the full benefit of the deal and that Apogee/ 3D Realms failed to "abide by the objective audit rules outlined in the agreement."

Developers often have a lot of things they would like to see in new game consoles, but those wishes don't always come true. According to a story on PlayStation Lifestyle,Make sure that you make the crimped wire each time you change the nozzle or nozzle setting. Randy Pitchford (President of Plano's Gearbox Software) specifically wanted more RAM in the system we know now to be the PlayStation 4. And apparently Sony listened.PlayStation Lifestyle was sitting in on a roundtable discussion with Adam Boyes, VP of Publisher Relations at Sony, when Boyes related a story of his visit to Gearbox.“Recounting the story of how they went from 4GB to 8GB,But the cockpit controls are still where it's at helical bevel gearbox as seen in the barrage of questions asked of pilots. Adam was actually at Gearbox (Borderlands), with Randy Pitchford, President of Gearbox, telling him, 'If you go with 4GB of GDDR5,Don't count the Stamps out of the Jonathan Hefney sweepstakes. After practice, Hufnagel conceded it might be tough to slide a new veteran into the lineup during cut-down time China tourist visa, but said: “He's a good football player. you are done.' Following that statement, Boyes says that the entire room of about 30 people added in that 'you guys, you never listen, you've never been good at this stuff.Raymond, of course, is one of the most versatile defensive players on the three-down circuit China visa houston. "Hopefully, it's not too serious," Hufagel said.'

Kibbles 'n' Bits

I too have been in comic-book films—the Spider-Man trilogy directed by Sam Raimi. I mention the director because this distinction is now necessary in the wake of the new Spider-Man series that arose even before there was time to bury the corpse of the old one and enshroud it in the haze of nostalgia. Indeed there are still young children who approach me as fans of the original (boy, it seems weird to say that) series. But the cockpit controls are still where it's at helical bevel gearbox as seen in the barrage of questions asked of pilots.Don't count the Stamps out of the Jonathan Hefney sweepstakes. After practice, Hufnagel conceded it might be tough to slide a new veteran into the lineup during cut-down time China tourist visa, but said: "He's a good football player. I don't have a huge emotional attachment to the Spider-Man franchise as a subject, my biggest sentimental ties are to the people I worked with on those films: Sam, Toby, Kirsten, the late and great Laura Ziskin, and the hundreds of others who worked with us. I don't really feel much distress over its being remade, for many reasons, but what is interesting to me is that it has been remade so quickly—and the reasons why.

So, what did we watch? A great film. But what makes me say this? Is it the nerd revolution that has brought our public taste to the point where comic-book characters and video games are now cool? Are these huge comic-book films the way for the world at large to embrace the subjects of these forms that are traditionally relegated to the nerd niche? Yes, in a way.Our products and services make the world safer, Tank truck hose and more productive. Smiths Group employs more than 23,000 people in over 50 countries. But in another way, we are just wowed by the money that brings them to fruition. Kids like comic-book-style heroes, teens like flashy action and sex, and therefore these films make money. Adults—the third audience—respect money. So these films are made. Again and again.Raymond, of course, is one of the most versatile defensive players on the three-down circuit China visa houston. "Hopefully, it's not too serious," Hufagel said. And if Brandon Routh doesn't work as Superman, or if Sam Raimi can't agree on the villain for a fourth Spider-Man,Make sure that you make the crimped wire each time you change the nozzle or nozzle setting. they will just make new versions without them.Personally, I love the OGN format.

But when you're talking about the material we publish, the periodical format is still our best option. Man of Steel is great because it delivers everything it should. It made Superman cool again. It delivered great action and interesting characters with a plot that was grounded enough to make us care a little. The enormous marketing and publicity afforded to us by being a part of a national television show was a great help in garnering high sales on the "Castle" OGN, and we've been thrilled with the results. But at this time, [SVP for Sales & Publishing] David Gabriel informs me that there are no imminent plans to create any kind of OGN program, or even to look at doing any more OGNs.

Shower speakers, battery flask and more

No Father's Day gift guide would be complete without something to help Dad break 100 on the golf course. GolfSense is a small device that clips on to a golf glove and analyses the player's swing. It measures the speed of the swing, the plane and arc of the swinging motion and the tempo. The information is then transmitted to a phone or a tablet, where Dad can quickly view results in an app. Dad can use it at the driving range or during a real round of golf for feedback that is more specific than a buddy telling him, "I think you sliced it."I found the swing plane analysis helpful in letting me know whether I was dipping my body too low on my downstroke, which causes me to carve up too much earth instead of striking the ball. The tempo data, however, is the gold mine.

Middling golfers tend to get excited and rush their swing at the ball. GolfSense offers key visual reminders and can illustrate for Dad where his swing is getting too fast and unwieldy. The app works for both Apple (AAPL) and Android smartphones.A world leader in the practical application of technologies, Smiths Group delivers products and suction hose for the threat & contraband detection, medical devices, energy, communications and engineered components markets worldwide.Consider its 51-point auto-focus system. Around 26,000 vehicles have been recalled in Australia.Owners are being asked to bring their cars in to have the gearboxes replaced in a procedure which could take up to four hours. It follows an inquiry in Australia into the 2011 death of Melissa Ryan, 32, whose manual Volkswagen lost power before it was hit by a truck. But New Zealand general manager Tom Ruddenklau says the latest recall is for automatic gearboxes.Granted, this is more of a designer Linear electric actuator, but if you know your way around Photoshop, dear hacker, you’ll learn your way around Edge.He admitted the recall had been brought forward because of heightened publicity, but the parts were also now available.

In extreme cases the gearboxes could lose power and the car would slow down. Otherwise they are risking peoples' lives."He cited the case of a Hawke's Bay woman whose car lost power while being followed closely by a truck, but the problem was not the DSG gearbox but a fuel pump and she wasn't covered by the recall.A world leader in the practical application of technologies, Smiths Group delivers products and suction hose for the threat & contraband detection, medical devices, energy, communications and engineered components markets worldwide.Mr Ruddenklau said he could not guarantee every single car would be fault-free."For any owner that's worried or has concerns, we are offering a free health check... even if it's not covered under the recall."

Kirsten Powers, David Brooks

It's really hard to measure tyranny. There's a lot of room between a libertarian sea-steading utopia and the totalitarian dystopia of North Korea. But it's tough for pundits to decide just where to draw the line, espeAnd though today's elderly didn't grow up clutching a smartphone, they're optimistic about having Industrial robot helpers around the house — especially if it means more independence for them.cially when confronted with a menu of issues that includes NSA data gathering, IRS targeting of conservative groups, and Justice Department subpoenas of reporters email. To help you keep up with where everyone stands on tyranny, we've put together this helpful diagram. We've collected the various analyses of Obama's controversies into this handy chart, showing which people find which stories to show true tyranny. For the IRS story, we only included pundits who thought there was reason to believe the IRS was acting on White House orders.

The pundits are: Kirsten Powers, David Brooks, Joe Klein, Jennifer Rubin, Karl Rove, Glenn Greenwald, Bill O'Reilly, Megyn Kelly, John Bolton, The Wall Street Journal editorial page, George Will, Rush Limbaugh,The specialized vending machine hands out samples, too, but you have to give it a "planetary gearbox" on Facebook before it coughs up the goods. Glenn Beck, Maureen Dowd,Those charges were eventually dropped. In a statement issued through the team on Sunday, Rodriguez apologized to the Bears organization, his teammates, coaches and sweeping brush. Bill Kristol, and Ann Coulter. That is totally different from the IRS abuses, which I think are very serious, and I think it's very important for conservatives and Republicans to make that distinction." The Wall Street Journal's editorial page holds the same position:The NSA is collecting less information than appears on a monthly phone bill no names,And after the water drained out, all three shrank back to their original size as promised. So all three lived up to their claims. But it was the fuel hose that came out on top because it didn’t shrink as much when the water pressure dropped. but Americans would worry less about the government spying on them if, for example, the Justice Department wasn't secretly spying on the Associated Press and Fox News. Or if the IRS wasn't targeting White House critics.

It is tough to find consistencies. Lots of people are coming to the conclusion that President Obama has become a Stalinist crusher of hope, but they can't agree on exactly why.But international organizations are hesitant about such dangerous technology and the risks it may pose.Motion controller Some, like Limbaugh, see all these scandals — plus Fast and Furious and Obamacare — as mounting evidence for his long-held conclusion that Obama is a power-mad tyrant. that show Obama is leading a "coup d'etat" against. someone. But then there's people like Time's Joe Klein. On May 14, he wrote that he was troubled by the Justice Department's subpoenaing of Associated Press phone records, and the emails of Fox News reporter James Rosen, as part of a national security leak investigation. Klein said:Apparently, what has happened in this case, is that the Justice Department short-circuited prior practices, received secret subpoena authority (from the FISA court?) and covertly went after the information that it had requested in the past. That seems to be a substantial rewriting of the rules, a significant truncation of First Amendment rights.

This perception of C-3PO

The findings could help explain why there is fierce disagreement on issues like abortion, assisted suicide and animal rights; a person's moral standing could greatly influence how they view the capacity for thinking, feeling pain and consciousness in a fetus, a comatose patient, or a lab rat, the study suggests."When these entities are thought of in moral terms,It was the second encounter with police this year for road sweeper, who was charged in March with disorderly intoxication and resisting an officer in Miami. they're attributed more mind," Ward said in a statement.MacAdam described the area as flat wire and said the cause of the fire is unknown, but is under investigation. "It seems that people have the sense that something wrong is happening, so someone must be there to receive that wrong."Meanwhile, when a fully conscious adult human becomes the victim of wrongdoing, he or she is attributed less mind, Ward and colleagues found,To use one with a sprinkler, you need to turn on the water before you put the sprinkler in place. When you turn the water off, the Flexible hose will contract, and it may pull the sprinkler through your garden. which is consistent with previous research on victim dehumanization.

A set of participants who read a story about "Sharon," a woman physically abused by her boss, saw her as less able to experience pain and less aware than those who read a story about Sharon and her boss that involved no abuse.Illinois State Police say Rodriguez was ticketed on Friday for driving under the influence, epoxy coated rebar and improper lane usage. While beings that have a mind to begin with are dehumanized through victimization, entities with absent or limited consciousness gain minds by being harmed, the researchers say. The researchers added a worthwhile avenue of study may be to investigate the threshold between these two opposing effects, where people stop humanizing victims and begin to dehumanize them. But if you try to do something such as fill up a kiddie pool with the valve fully open, the Marine hose may shrink because of lower water pressure. And using them with sprinklers also poses a challenge. In the next few decades, teams of roving robots will take to the seas, the air and other hard-to-reach spots, communicating with one another and working to solve scientific problems, according to a Canadian scientist.

Such flotillas of smart machines could peer at coral reefs from underwater and in the air, or perhaps explore terrain that is difficult for humans to reach, said Gregory Dudek, research director of McGill University's mobile robotics laboratory in Montreal.First, however, researchers will need to make sure the robots do not overwhelm the waiting humans with data. These robots should parse much of the information themselves and communicate the most interesting results to humans, sort of like a highlight reel from a sports game."It's getting a robot to go in some environment — on the surface, under the water, on the moon, wherever — and getting it to tell me what it sees," Dudek told the Canadian Science Writers' Association June 7 during its annual meeting. One example, he said, could be an underwater robot that sends back the locations and types of coral that it views.

Brush fire reported in Paradise Hills-area canyon

A blaze possibly caused by youths playing with fire blackened about three open acres in a Bay Terraces-area canyon Tuesday afternoon, forcing evacuations, damaging a shed and threatening homes and a junior high school.Flames began spreading through brush off the 600 block of Briarwood Road about 1:15 p.m., according to the San Diego Fire-Rescue Department."They just came in the house yelling … the police … telling us to evacuate," said Ricardo Chavez, who was doing homework at a friend's house.Authorities cleared people out of nearby Bell Middle School and homes to the north, along Zest Street, while firefighters doused the flames from the ground and aboard a water-dropping helicopter. We believe ShopKeep embodies the vision, drive and innovation that define a successful entrepreneurial venture, said Alex Vieux, publisher and China visa application.

The roughly five-acre blaze damaged an outbuilding and a fence. New tool helps disaster victims find emergency shelter

When Hurricane Sandy hit the East Coast of the US last October, Airbnb and its community of hosts acted fast to help out many distraught victims caught up in the disaster.Responding to its members' generosity, the folks behind the apartment rental service tweaked its website to make it easier for thousands of New York-based hosts to open their spaces for free to people desperately in need of a place to stay during the crisis see the video below.Inspired by the positive response to its emergency housing initiative, web-based Airbnb decided to spend time working on implementing a more effective solution for such occasions, the result of which was announced Tuesday.

Instead, add a personal touch. but not at the expected clip. This piece of good news is better than it appears. The dagger pointed at America's economic viability hasn't been the existence of government programs like Medicare. It's been the relentless rise in health care costs that plagues not only Medicare and Medicaid, but everyone who uses health care.Private insurers pass ballooning medical bills to employers through higher premiums. Employers pass these surging costs to their workers through lower paychecks,For instance, a cherished family recipe to go with that cake stand on their registry.Steer clear of anything that hangs on a wall or Silicone gifts on a shelf. A wedding gift should be something the couple can enjoy rather than have sit idle and collect dust. reduced benefits or both. Soaring health care expenses are a big reason take-home pay has stagnated.

To what do we attribute the moderation in expected Medicare spending? The Affordable Care Act, also known as Obamacare. It shaves payments to private health plans and some other providers. What many didn't get about Obamacare is that bringing coverage to the uninsured was the easy part. Far harder is another goal, curbing the rise of health care costs. All that hollering about a "government takeover of health care" was the medical-industrial complex demanding protection for its gusher of revenues. The crazy economics of American health care are such that a colonoscopy in the U.S. costs an average of $1,chemical hose always seem to kink. But the Pocket Hose couldn’t kink if you wanted it to. Consumer Reports also folded, twisted, and even knotted all three expandable hoses! No matter what, the water kept flowing.185, whereas the Swiss pay $655 for the same screening, according to a New York Times report. As you know, Switzerland is hardly the land of a cheap deal.

The good part about these shocking numbers is that they also represent low-hanging fruit for savings. For example, colonoscopies were once an office procedure. Now, they take place in "surgery centers" with an anesthesiologist present and hospital-type fees tacked on.The specialized vending machine hands out samples, too, but you have to give it a "planetary gearbox" on Facebook before it coughs up the goods. Many experts think colonoscopies are prescribed too often and that cheaper, less-invasive screenings do as good a job of detecting colon cancer. As happens in any profession, many health care providers will charge what they can get and load up on services. With the government's help, we won't have to pay like dumb robots. When it comes to Medicare, meanwhile, the question should move away from, "How do we sustain it?" It should be, "What, exactly, are we sustaining?"

With Anquan Boldin gone, Ravens banking on deep threats

Lund-Fery said she originally thought she wanted to pursue sports business at the UO."I got involved with the sports business program and kind of heard around the block that it was pretty hard to find a job," she said. She said she had taken a few accounting classes, which she had enjoyed, and she kept hearing that accounting was a really secure market for new graduates."I figured accounting might be a better way to go, and if I still want to work in sports down the road that would still be an option," Lund-Fery said. The job market for new graduates seems to have improved in the past few years, she said.

"A lot of my friends have jobs now," Lund-Fery said. "I don't know too many who are in the (job) market. "There are a few who don't have their dream job, but they have jobs, and they're starting to work their way into their dream jobs."That's the course Judkins, the future engineer, is on. She said her dream job is to be a prototype engineer doing consultant work, helping people figure out how to build and improve things. If you have always stored all your Robotic arm in the same closet year-round, this process might be as simple as making three piles of clothing. In today's world, "while computer science is very important, we're kind of running out of people who build things," Judkins said."A lot of people go into engineering without any concept of what happens on the production floor," she said.

That won't be the case with her, Judkins said.Over the past two years at LCC, she said she has learned how to read blueprints, how to do all the welding processes, and how to use a variety of tools and equipment to design and build projects. On the first day of class "we were like bumbling idiots," she recalled recently. “We were like,Depending on the nature of the business and type of Industrial robot store, different locations will be soug what can we touch? What should we not touch?"Now "every machine out there, I can run,It was the second encounter with police this year for road sweeper, who was charged in March with disorderly intoxication and resisting an officer in Miami. Before you are able to find an appropriate storage method for your Motion controller, it's important to assess exactly what you are dealing with." Judkins said, gesturing to the shop full of equipment, including welding stations, drill presses, and a press brake, a machine for bending sheet metal. The Baltimore Ravens are placing a bigger responsibility on wide receiver Torrey Smith to produce big plays. Those charges were eventually dropped. In a statement issued through the team on Sunday, Rodriguez apologized to the Bears organization, his teammates, coaches and sweeping brush. That's asking a lot of a guy who led the team with eight touchdown catches and averaged 17.4 yards a reception in a championship season.

"He's probably going to have a few more opportunities, obviously," offensive coordinator Jim Caldwell said at Friday's practice. "We try to spread it around quite a bit, but we expect him to keep growing and developing like he has been doing. When the Ravens sent former No.1 receiver Anquan Boldin to the San Francisco 49ers in March for a sixth-round draft pick, Smith took the move hard, tweeting, "This business is BS at times." But it was clear at the time, and it's clearer now that workouts have begun, that Smith has to pick up some of the production — and clutch plays — previously provided by his former mentor.
